Ten years on the infield
I first became involved with Athletics CK in 2016 when our previous President, Erin Tierney Quirke, noticed my eldest son TK's potential and invited him to join the CK squad. At first, I was simply a supportive parent dropping off, picking up and cheering from the sidelines. In 2017, Erin asked me to help officiate at the Prince of Wales. I knew nothing about officiating, but thought, "I can do this!" Little did I know it would become a 10-year journey.
Through officiating, I have gained confidence, knowledge, experience and lifelong friendships. There are many roles in Track and Field, and you are always learning. You will never be alone. Most importantly, you become part of a family that supports and encourages each other, official or athlete.
My advice? Give it a go! You never know where it may take you. Ten years on, I'm still here, and my love for Athletics CK has never changed.
Detail for each of the four items above is still to come, along with the officials photograph.
